Enhance your natural beauty with dermal fillers to subtly sculpt the face and body.
Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar compound that naturally occurs in the human body. Thicker fillers tend to last longer and are usually used for volumisation and sculpting. Thinner fillers can be used to treat fine lines and for lost volume under the eyes. Treatment time is usually under an hour and varies depending on the complexity of treatment.
Cosmetic injectors are now everywhere but not everyone is properly trained. Dr Rafael has had intensive training in the art of dermal fillers from internationally recognised doctors such as Dr Raj Acquilla, who is an internationally recognised speaker and authority in anti-wrinkle injections. Dr Rafael has had the privilege of training other doctors in cosmetic injectables.
We are trained in techniques that allow us to treat the whole face if needed. Some areas include: lips, cheeks, chin, nose, temples, under eyes and the folds around your mouth and nose (nasolabial, marionette). We also offer other advanced techniques such as hand rejuvenation or correction of scars.
The volume added by the fillers is immediately apparent. However, the aesthetic results will continue to improve up to 2 weeks as the swelling goes. Results should last between 6 to 24 months depending on the filler used and the injection site.
Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid which is a sugar that is normally found in healthy skin. Dermal fillers can be injected into the skin, lips, the fat of the face or on top of bone to achieve a wide variety of volume restoring and rejuvenating effects. As we age, we lose bone volume, our facial fat starts to sag and our skin loses its normal elasticity. By injecting fillers in the appropriate locations we can restore the volume that has been lost and lift the sagging skin and fat. Thinner dermal fillers can also be injected directly into a wrinkle to reduce its appearance. Undoubtedly one of the biggest benefits of dermal fillers is that they are non-surgical and can achieve dramatic results without the downtime of surgery. While dermal fillers have their benefits for signs of aging, they can also be used to perfect the appearance even before the effects of aging are apparent. For example, they can be used to refine the appearance of the jawline, add model like cheek-bones or improve irregularities in the shape of the nose. While some techniques are complex, the recovery period is usually short with instant results.
A consultation with a medical professional is necessary to put the best plan to accomplish your goals. Since there are needles going into the skin, pain can occur, however, our team at Asterie have a variety of ways to minimise or eliminate the pain. We may use a topical anaesthetic cream to numb, the area. In the case of the lips, we may inject a local anaesthetic into your gums to temporarily block sensation from a nerve that causes lip pain. We may also use an ice pack to help numb the area. The fillers themselves contain local anaesthetics which help alleviate the pain of injection. The total treatment time is usually less than 1 hour.
Prices vary depending on the area injected. Prices start at $300 for the lips. More complicated areas will incur a greater cost. All of our filler treatments are currently done by a doctor, who will create a plan, customise the treatment to your needs and follow up with you to ensure that you have the results you want. A doctor on site means that we can better manage complications when they occur. Despite being a luxury clinic, with treatments done by doctors, our prices remain competitive with franchise clinics.
Dermal fillers, like all procedures, carry a risk. However, having a doctor present on site means that we can immediately manage complications in the rare instances that they occur. It is important to note that safety protocols and injection technique are key to minimising complications. This is why a prepared and trained injector is vital.
You may return to work on the same day. Please note that redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness are not uncommon and may occur for up to a week after the dermal filler treatment. Swelling can make filled lips look much more filled than they actually have been; please wait a few days for the swelling to subside.
Patients often have filler and anti-wrinkle injections done at the same time. Certain lasers and cosmetic devices which heat the skin may damage dermal fillers.
